Before going in detail I would like to mention that I am diabetic, my father was a diabetic and my mother too is. My initial diagnosis started with a simple blood glucose fasting test which read as 445 mg/dL. A fasting blood sugar level of 99 mg/dL or lower is normal, 100 to 125 mg/dL indicates you have prediabetes, and 126 mg/dL or higher indicates you have diabetes. My Glucosylated haemoglobin (hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c) was at 14 %. It is a simple blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. Below 5.7% is normal. 5.7% to 6.4% is diagnosed as prediabetes. 6.5% or higher on two separate tests indicates diabetes.
